Named by The Economist in 2005 as one of the most livable cities in the United States, Cleveland is home to an estimated 450,000 citizens and the second largest city in Ohio. Throughout its history, Cleveland established itself as a major American manufacturing center, performing well in industrial sectors such as steel manufacturing. In the 1980s, Cleveland faced a recession that forced its economy to evolve, and was widely known as the “Comeback City” throughout the 1990s. In the 2000s, Cleveland leaders made a concerted effort to grow the technology sector, which resulted in Cleveland being named a “Worldwide Digital Community” by Intel in 2005. Today, Cleveland boasts a thriving economy in the technology, engineering, and biotech research sectors. Cleveland is also home to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a landmark that attracts large tourist crowds each year.
